Doctor Who – Mission to Magnus Review

… Uh-oh. You know when you remember something being bad, then when you return to it it’s somehow worse than you remembered? Well.. That. Mission to Magnus, despite being written in the 80s, is somehow more sexist than Prison in Space, written in the 60s, and has a really gratingly bad child actor to boot. How did this nearly get made as part of the original Season 23? As a fan of the Ice Warriors I imagine appearing in this story would’ve been worse than what actually happened to them, and what actually happened is they weren’t brought back on screen for decades. Let’s take a look then…

Star Wars: The High Republic – Light of the Jedi Review

I’ve been looking forward to this book for a long time now, the idea of the “High Republic Era” was fascinating to me. No Sith or Empire thanks to this being set 200 years before Phantom Menace, and therefore 800 years into the “it’s been 1,000 years since a Jedi has seen a Sith” line in the aforementioned film. Due to the complete lack of the Dark Side of the Force clouding any judgment the Jedi here are on a whole other level, but the villains of the piece shine as well, being quite unlike anything seen the long-running series before. Want to know more? Read on!

Doctor Who – The Nightmare Fair Review

It’s funny that its taken this long to swing back round to the Lost Stories that started them all, but here we are! The Nightmare Fair is the first of an impressive run of eleven Sixth Doctor Lost Stories (twelve if I hadn’t already reviewed Ultimate Evil) and is one of the ones I knew about before the range started. It was originally supposed to kick off Season 23, with the last line of Revelation of the Daleks originally making reference to Blackpool being their next destination before everything became uncertain and they removed it. So how does the Nightmare Fair hold up? Is it better than the other Lost Story featuring one of the Celestial Beings?… It would be hard not to be! Let’s take a look!

Castle Crashers (XBOX 360) Review

Well, this is sort of an unspectacular way to end the “Scrolling Sundays” feature, but having reviewed SoR4 alongside the other entries in that series, this is the latest scrolling beat ‘em up I can review. I do plan on buying both Scott Pilgram and River City Girls (plus play some of the countless ones I hadn’t played), but for now, this is how the weekly feature ends. Castle Crashers is a fun indy game, released at the time when indy games were just becoming a popular thing… So let’s take a look at it!

Trigun – Episodes 14 – 26 Review

The second half of Trigun can often be completely unrecognisable compared to the first half, with a sci-fi heavy backstory for our main protagonist and a general story arc flowing through most of the episodes. This of course isn’t by any means a bad thing, I just remember being taken aback by it all the first time watching through the series! … well, let’s take a look then!

Doctor Who: The Autonomy Bug, Happy Deathday & TV Action! Review

It’s time to end both the Glorious Dead graphic novel and the era of black and white Who comics as we take a look at three light-hearted adventures that originally came out in between and after the titular Glorious Dead, but were all collected at the back of the GN for pacing purposes. Autonomy Bug is three issues long and was the final B+W strip, while the other two are more one-off celebratory efforts… but are any of the three worth a read? Let’s find out!

WWF No Mercy (N64) Review

Well… here we go then. A few months ago I reviewed GoldenEye on the N64, now I get to the other biggie: WWF No Mercy, a game I played for literally years after the console ended. The main draw was me and my friend playing 40-Man Royal Rumble matches with Hardcore, pin and submissions on. There nothing quite like brawling to a bar backstage, pinning someone, hearing a countdown to the next entrant who then walks into the bar to continue the match. It’s a fun, usually hour-long multiplayer experience I have yet to be able to recreate in a game since. Beyond that though, what else is great about No Mercy? Let’s find out!

Agents of SHIELD – Season 7 Overall Review

Although Season 5 still feels like the actual final season, Season 7 of Agents of SHIELD is at least a marked improvement over 6 and does a good job of basically taking a bunch of characters that have been developed to their natural end and just having a bit of a laugh with them. That’s not to say the series didn’t have its moments of more seriousness, but this did feel like the writers, cast and crew were all just having fun because they found themselves with a seventh season they weren’t really expecting… With that all said, let’s take a look!
