Doctor Who: Endgame Review

dw endgame

Endgame is not just the debut for Izzy, but it’s the start of the Eighth Doctor’s great run in Doctor Who Magazine. As his Big Finish audio tenure went on the Doctor got more and more cynical and sarcastic, where as these comics have him just like in the TV movie: very excitable and funny. Izzy is a great companion too, a “nerdy” character within a very nerdy sci-fi series works great. So let’s take a look at Endgame (the story, not the whole Graphic novel…) and kick off the Eighth Doctor’s lengthy part in the Audio/Comic Companions Debut Marathon!

One Piece – Thriller Bark Arc (Episodes 337 – 381) Review

one piece tba

Now to say I’m “way behind” on One Piece would be a massive understatement. Even the UK released DVD collections I’m a good few collections behind, and those don’t even cover half the series… that’s still airing weekly! Still, I really enjoy the series when I get to sit down and watch it, though I’ll admit that this arc was a real slog, and because of that I haven’t been keeping up, it was only the realisation that the latest release here in the UK covers the big Luffy-Ace moment that I’ve, sadly, heard all about that’s spurred me on to finish this story and move on to the next. So let’s get the Thriller Bark Arc out of the way and move on to greener pastures… I hope!

UFO – Episodes 1 – 8 Review

ufo p1

It’s been a while since I’ve put up some classic Sci-Fi TV reviews up, but there has been a lot of new TV in recent months to get on with… That being said, let’s start a run through of UFO, the first live action Gerry Anderson TV show. I’ve been wanting to watch it (and its spiritual successor Space:1999) for a while now, the Blu-rays of all three series just waiting for me on my shelf, but I didn’t want to rush it (or watch four episodes in August and then another four in December, which would have made this review rather tricky.) I’ve enjoyed it so far, though the series isn’t without faults, both due to age and otherwise. Let’s have a look!

Doctor Who: Original Sin Review

dw original sin

Original Sin introduces us to Roz Forrester and Chris Cwej and is an adaptation of the novel of the same name from back in the 90s “New Adventures” range. Given their final stories haven’t been adapted into audios I wasn’t going to include them in this marathon, they’re really Book companions rather than Audio or Comics, but Big Finish have started releasing new, audio only stories with The Doctor, Chris and Roz so that made them… straddle the line. Given their intro story has been adapted into audio though, I thought it’d be fair game! So let’s take a look!

Legends of Tomorrow – Season 4 Episodes 1 – 8 Review

LoT S4 P1

Legends of Tomorrow was, in my opinion, the best of the four Arrowverse seasons from last year, being as funny as it was entertaining and occasionally dramatic, and while they definitely leaned in too hard on the humour so far, Season 4 still offers up a fun mix of time travel antics and fun character interactions. Let’s have a closer look!

Doctor Who: Resolution Review

DW Resolution

2019’s first, and only, televised Doctor Who story was at the very least a good one. Despite being the weakest of the writers in his own show-ran season, Chris Chibnall managed to tell a good story and put a unique spin on a Dalek tale, something very hard to do after 50+ years of the evil pepper pots. So let’s take a deeper look at Resolution, and then I’ll update the Thirteenth Doctor page for the last time this year… already. (not bitter or anything…)

The Heroic Legend of Arslan – Season 1 Episodes 14 – 25 Review

Heroic Legend of Arslan P2

The second half of The Heroic Legend of Arslan’s first season starts off with a long side-story about the Kingdom of Shidhura and a civil war brewing between the two children of its ruler. Arslan and his group of survivors end up taking one side in the war in exchange for their help with taking back their homeland, so it does make sense. It ends with a large-scale battle between Pars and Lusitania anyway, so you still a sense of pay-off for the finale. Let’s take a deeper look!

My Top 10 TV Series/Seasons of 2018

Top 10 TV 2018

2018 was another year where the majority of TV I watched were second or third series / seasons of something I was already watching (with a couple of exceptions), but that being said a lot of series were of a very high quality indeed, with a couple of good seasons actually having to be cut, which makes a change compared to the Games list… Or the movies list, which was so small it isn’t going to be appearing for the second year in a row… Anyway, let’s look at my Top 10 TV Series / Seasons of 2018!

My Top 10 Games of 2018

Top 10 Games 2018

It’s that time of year again, and now all three categories are on the one Blog! So, we’re starting with Games, and… yeah, once again I’m just one man (with a full-time job, no less) so there are games on most people’s lists that I just haven’t played (God of War seems to be this year’s Breath of the Wild in that sense…), and thanks to two 2017 games taking a couple of chunks of the year up, I only just made it to 10 games released in 2018… So, without further ado, here is my list of Top 10 / Only 10 Games I’ve Played of 2018!
